Should you use mean scores or top-2% box? A recent study verifies that the power and reliability of tracking research can be improved by using mean rating measurements instead of the top-two box and other percentage measurements. Using means, instead of top-two boxes, provides more powerful statistical tests and increases the survey-wide reliability. Using the top-two box requires the sample sizes to be increased by 25% to 50% to achieve the same statistical power as a study that uses means. To find out more about this topic, please see our latest newsletter, the Syndics Synopsis, reviewing articles describing the latest developments in research methodologies.
